What’s the point? Why do we dress up? Why take the cutest pics for Insta?
Is it because it’s art we put on our bodies to share? Something worth sharing? In my previous blog, I stated why a good outfit can make your day better.
Here, I will show you some fashion choices that some of my beloved friends have made and how they are a representation of today’s fashion choices.
FOR THE GIRLS ♡

“Sandwich method”
Joyce chose a cream mini-skirt with a simple black top, but the outfit doesn’t stop there. She repeated the black at the bottom with chunky boots, creating what stylists sometimes call the “sandwich method”. Repeating a color or element at the top and bottom of an outfit to make everything feel connected and put together.
And honestly? It works.
The boots give the otherwise simple outfit a little edge, while the cream skirt keeps it light. The perfect night-out fit.

THE SANDWICH METHOD
Black on top, black on bottom, cream in the middle. A little styling trick that makes the whole outfit click.
Bootcut jeans, Juicy Couture sets, low-rise. Yes, we see that coming back, but I believe we aren’t fully bringing them back completely; things are more inspired by Y2K fashion.

THE Y2K FORMULA
Bootcut denim + a fitted top + headphones. Sometimes the formula really is that simple.
We’re not just seeing individual Y2K pieces come back. We’re seeing people combine those pieces in ways that feel Y2K intentionally.
Aschia’s outfit works because the darker shoes ground the lighter pieces, keeping the look cohesive. The headphones are what really pull this look together. They aren’t just practical! They’re part of the outfit. Add the fitted silhouette and bootcut jeans, and suddenly a very everyday look feels straight out of a 2000s teen movie.
Pop of color

THE COLOR POP
A simple black dress gets a completely different personality with one unexpected layer: white.
Simplicity can say a lot. The black dress keeps the look effortlessly elegant, while the white cardigan adds contrast and softens the silhouette. The result feels classic without losing personality.
The black dress was a moment, but after the WHITE cardigan was added, it elevated the fit and brought the eyes to the top.
We can’t forget the pop of color right there! Sahar’s gorgeous nails. Her pose tells us everything we need to know. I also know my girl builds outfits around certain pieces. Either her hairstyle as a statement or her nails!
“Fashion is self-expression, not something to follow”
FOR THE guys ♡
Baggy denim, layered shirts, sneakers, and a little attitude.

layering
The layering method has always been an important concept in fashion. Especially in men’s fashion, they use the method to give depth and dimension to their fits.
Pradeep chose an all-black fit but contrasted it with his choice for the top layer. He balanced the fit with shoes that matched that outer layer.
He also chose a statement gold chain with added accessories on his wrists.
Another aspect of his outfit is the texture. The jacket is softer, yet structured. The soft contrast with the dark-wash jeans pairs well. The jacket cuts off well at his hips to give him a balanced structure.

Shaan chose a softer color scheme that works so well together. The baby blue and Cream are soft. The blue is just as warm as the cream, so the colors do not clash; they are a perfect pair. We see that layering is chosen. His shoes were an amazing choice!
Timbs. If you know, you know.
Timberland boots became a staple of 2000s men’s fashion, especially alongside baggy jeans, oversized hoodies, jerseys, and streetwear. And somehow, they still work today. There’s something about a pair of Timbs that immediately makes an outfit feel a little more rugged, a little more effortless.
Jewelry
The outfit might be simple, but the right accessory changes everything. Hats, watches, chains, sunglasses. The little details were a huge part of men’s fashion in the 2000s, and they’re still an easy way to give a basic outfit some personality.
Accessories change the vibe of the outfit completely when done right or wrong. A gold chain is different from a diamond-studded necklace when styled on a black top.
In Jovan’s case, he balances his fits by adding accessories to his waist. In an all-black fit, it creates a cutoff. If he chooses to keep the belt as the statement, he doesn’t need too many necklaces.

I focused more on personal style than mainstream fashion of our time. I want to thank my friends for letting me use their amazing photos. They have great style and amazing attitudes. Check out their Instagrams and show them some love.
So, are our fashion choices a way of self-expression? I believe it. The way we dress shows how we coordinate colors, patterns, textures, and vibes.
It shows the effort we put into the way we present ourselves, and I LOVE that.
Much Love,
Angela ♡
