Ever had the feeling where you are getting ready and the vibes are just immaculate. You extended your time at home just to feel that peace. Those 1 to 2 hours of just pure bliss.
Yeah, it’s the satisfaction of having time in your hands. The artistry within slowly emerging as the brush lands on your face. The simple strokes create beauty that is found within and on a surface blessed by God. Yes, girl. That feeling is real. You might want to think about whether you feel this way before you get ready to go out…
Key word: vibe (vibing)

“Getting The Invite”
“Hey girl!”, “Are you free this Friday?”, “We going out for ___”, “Hey guys!” Aren’t those just excited messages to be receiving? (maybe not for introverts and homebodies) But for the rest of us?! Like girl. The heart dropping to your stomach, the excitement and butterflies. So valid. Now you have somthing to look forward to after knowing you probably would’ve had a boring weekend. Or thinking about it makes a long day of work move quicker (or slower, your point of view).
Now you gotta start planning the fit, the makeup, and figure out the vibe with the girls. Then no one knows the vibe and ends up with the same vibe outfits, and the night goes well! Okay, wait, slow down; we just started.
So now the outfit search has begun. It depends on where you are going, so that’s gonna be easy. Right? Hopefully? You can find help in my other blog, “Are We Dressing for the Destination”. It will guide you to finding the proper style, desired comfort, and perfect outfit for the destination.
“Music (Catch the Vibe)”
UGH BEST PART!! Now it’s late evening. Work is done, or it was a productive day, OR you did nothing waiting for the event. (No judgment). Now it’s time to shower, shave, exfoliate (trim that beard or mustache, guys), and freshen up. Now you’re back in your room, and you start up the music. BOOM, now we catch the vibe. We got RnB, rap, pop, soft baby girl music. ANYTHING your heart and body want. While you ride that wave, you feel that bad b**** coming out. You’re HER (of HIM). Feel it. You got your outfit on, hanging or spread out on your bed, and you finally whip out your makeup bag; time to unleash your inner artist.
“Makeup & Hair”
Keep in mind the music in the back. You start lip-syncing as you draw on your liner, then mascara. GOSH ISN’T THIS FUN?! Like, what do you mean I can’t stay here doing this for another 2 hours, and I have to be out of the house in 30? Welp, that’s why you start the getting-ready part early so you have more time for the vibes. The time is passing, and you sip on tea, a Celsius, a Red-Bull, or coffee while your face is baking (setting the product on with loose powder so it stays all night)
You do the final touches: lip liner, gloss, setting spray, and done! The face is ready, and hair is what makes or breaks the look. If hair is bad, all the work on your face feels like a waste. So fingers crossed. Since this is a great day, hair came out perfect. Soft loose curls, or pin-straight instead of puffy straight, or the updo is pinned up and proper. Like, girl, you are on a roll!
Now you feel good, and you probably have some more time for yourself, OR you gotta leave now! Either way, the overall feeling of getting ready, having to choose your accessories, perfume, and shoes is a great feeling. Some find it stressful while others find it therapeutic. I find it to be one of my favorite parts of the evening.
You feel collected or stressed, worried or calm; whatever it may be, the music will regulate it. Choose the genre that fits your vibe. The one that uplifts you, brings you excitement and joy! Doing things for yourself will regulate it. When you go out, it should feel like a reward, not as if you are doing wrong or you don’t deserve it. If you feel that way, don’t go. You are not obligated to, but if you choose to go, make the most of it. Be present, be yourself, and enjoy the time you took out to see your friends. (And remember to charge your phone before leaving.)

“Getting There”
This is the other part of the fun. Getting there is like an extended vibe session with music. I’m usually driving to the event, or my friends are, so when we are in that car, it sometimes can feel more lit than the party. But this is a side note. This is another side to the fun before the main event. We were celebrating my best friend’s birthday, and the drive to the next place, with music, being close, and spending those 15 minutes, was a thrill. It was just us; the party isn’t where it is at, it’s the people.
It’s not a me thing. This has to be universal, right? There’s something so special about getting ready for an evening out, knowing you’re about to see your friends, your loved ones, the people you feel safe enough with to let loose and have a good time. Being able to share these moments with people you love is a privilege in itself.
So, the next time you find yourself getting ready for a night out, take a moment to appreciate it. Think, “Wow, I get to do this. I get to see these people. Let’s make the most of it.” And remember, the evening doesn’t have to begin when you arrive. Sometimes, it begins in front of your mirror, with your favourite song playing, as you get ready for a night you’ve been looking forward to.
